Kabam, known for games such as Fast & Furious 6: The Game, The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth and Dragons of Atlantis: Heirs of the Dragon haven’t been too keen on bringing their games to the Windows platform in the past, but all that is about to change now thanks to their recent partnership with Microsoft.
In a surprise announcement yesterday, the company said that it is gearing up to bring their popular games to Windows Phone and Windows 8 devices. All future games from Kabam will also be launching simultaneously alongside Android and iOS releases. Kabam hasn’t revealed the exact time frame of the release, but expect the games to be released over the course of the next year.
The increasing popularity of the Windows devices is being touted as the reason for the push to the Windows platform. In a statement, Kabam Senior Vice President of Business Development Mike DeLaet stated that the company intends to combine Microsoft’s unique technologies and merchandising opportunities with their robust games to drive new types on innovation that will attract new gamers from around the world.
This looks like a win-win situation for both companies as Microsoft believes that Kabam games will make the Windows ecosystem even more robust while Kabam could enjoy unmatched monetization opportunities in over 36 markets.
What do you folks think about the deal? Are you looking forward to Kabam’s games on your Windows Phone and Windows 8 devices?
